Bernice Bienenstock Furniture Library

Welcome to the Furniture Library Cataloging Project official blog!

With this blog we will attempt to chronicle our experiences throughout the process of setting up an online catalog for the Bernice Bienenstock Furniture Library of High Point, North Carolina.

The Furniture Library is part of a nonprofit organization that seeks the advancement of knowledge as regards all things furniture. The current collection contains thousands of books on two floors of (describe house here-need more info).  As well as a general use collection there is also a rare books collections housed in a special climate controlled room.

As far as the cataloging project goes we are currently in Phase One, meaning we will be focusing on the part of the general collection which is currently housed in the downstairs section of the house.  Starting from scratch, we decided to use LibraryWorld as our cataloging software, as that is a program with which Mary Jane has some familiarity. We will be locating records, assigning Library of Congress call numbers, adding spine labels, and re-shelving each book.
